Dementias Platform UK

Great Minds is part of the Dementias Platform UK (DPUK) family that was established to enhance research into dementia. DPUK was funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) to accelerate the discovery of new ways to understand, diagnose, and treat dementia. It is a public-private partnership that gives access to detailed data for over 2 million anonymised individuals, from over 50 long-term health studies.

By bringing data from multiple studies into a single, secure, environment – the DPUK Data Portal – the difficulties of data access or need to transfer increasingly large and complex data files between research groups is minimised.

 

By maintaining these data to the highest data protection standards, participants and researchers can be reassured that the data are managed securely and responsibly; maintaining privacy whilst maximising scientific value.

 

DPUK combines the best researchers from both academia and industry with R&D skills of world-leading pharmaceuticals companies. They bring together the people who have the power to tackle dementia; those who have generously given their time to be studied as part of a cohort; and those who dedicate their life to researching the disease.
